Johnston Construction Company was started in 1976 and has completed over $150 million of design-build projects for clients in the water, wastewater, landfill and environmental remediation markets..

JCC is a focused, regional, design-build environmental construction firm specializing in water, wastewater, landfill, and environmental remediation projects. We deliver innovative project solutions, services, and expertise to municipalities, government agencies, and other private clients throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, and West Virginia.

Our unique approach to project delivery began over 30 years ago as our tag line states, “Multi-Trade, Engineered Construction.” This approach has evolved as our company has been transformed from a public works contractor managed by degreed engineers to an integrated environmental contractor with the expertise to manage a complete design-build team consisting of design firms, subcontractors, and craft personnel.

We are committed to the continual improvement of the design-build project delivery method. This commitment is supported throughout our organization from our in-house design staff, design management and construction management teams to our highly qualified field staff. We are an active member in the national Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) and have several project managers fully certified by the DBIA as Designated Design-Build Professional™ and are meeting the design-build continuing educational credit requirements to maintain certification. The certification program has been developed for contractors, design professionals, owners, lawyers, educators, and insurance providers. With an application process requiring: a combination of work experience, educational background, continuing education courses, successful completion of a professional examination, and professional experience, this program identifies designees as qualified professionals and promotes design-build as a project delivery system. Our attendance at the annual national conference seminars proves an excellent opportunity to learn new design-build methodology, further understand owner expectations, and witness first hand, presentations on past design-build projects throughout the world.

As the premier design-build environmental contractor in our region, we have been listed in the Engineering News Record rankings for top 200 Environmental Contractors in the country since 1999. We operate two offices with the corporate office located in Dover, Pennsylvania and a branch office located in Glyndon, Maryland. Our nearly 100 employees are our greatest resource and include:
